The economy of the mid 1940s was booming as the pent-up demand from the long years of deprivation was allowed full play in the American economy, and American generosity and compassion were helping rebuild  war-ravaged countries around the globe.

It was the beginning of an era of prosperity and opportunity unequaled in history, featuring purchases of all manner of consumer goods for the millions of new households being created by the returning GIs as well as those who had stayed behind to churn out the unprecedented flow of goods that stocked the arsenal of democracy and led to victory for the United States and the Allies.

Crown and its people have participated in the growth of the consumer market place through its production of folding cartons, custom packaging and point-of-purchase displays:

• from the Department Store with its well informed staff to explain and demonstrate the product

• to the discount and club stores where the package and other display materials must both explain and sell the product that the package once only protected in shipment.  

Crown's acquisition of increasingly capable offset lithography printing presses positioned us and our customers at the leading edge of the graphics revolution, using those brief milliseconds of the shopper's time to grab and hold their attention with clear and colorful depictions of the product in use, meeting the needs of shoppers, families, and their friends and guests.

More recently, Crown has been a pioneer in applying the structural advantages of fluted material to traditional folded carton markets and the precision graphics and fit of the folding carton process to traditional corrugated box container markets.  The advantages were obvious and the markets responded enthusiastically.
