Clay coated news back (CCNB), is a particular kind of recycled paperboard. Clay Coated refers to a smooth, printable coating applied to the top of the sheet. News back refers to the layer(s) beneath the coating that is made from recycled newspapers. These layers are typically a shade of gray due to the newsprint inks dispersed among the fibers. This coloration is covered by the clay coating, but does tend to add a grey cast to the sheet. We do not manufacture or sell raw clay coated news back cardboard material.

Clay coated news back is one of the less expensive substrates available, and, due to the technical nature of newsprint, less strong and less rigid and stiff than paper made from other fiber types. It is commonly used to produce boxes, cartons, and other packaging components where the package graphics are less demanding, and where strength is not a primary consideration.

Two substrates, CCNB and CCKB, comprise the bulk of the recycled paperboard and Clay Coated Recycled paperboard used in the manufacture of boxes, packaging, folding cartons, and other package components
